SUMMER
after dark
WHAT IS SUMMER AFTER DARK?
Built by community. For our children, for us all.
Summer After Dark is a community-led effort to create a series of free events for youth 13-17 and their families across the city this summer - created by neighbors, shaped by community, and rooted in connection, safety, and joy.
From large gatherings to smaller neighborhood events, Summer After Dark reflects what’s possible when community leads - when we take shared responsibility for the well-being of our children.
Everything is free.
Everything is for youth.

Summer After Dark is built through a combination of shared responsibility, neighborhood leadership, and coordinated support to ensure safe, welcoming spaces for youth across the city.
Anchor Events
These are large, citywide gatherings that bring people together for connection, celebration, and shared experience.
We are planning three anchor events help set the tone for the summer and create moments of collective joy.
Dates and Locations TBD!
Satellite Events
Satellite events are smaller, community-led gatherings hosted in neighborhoods across the city. These events reflect the needs, ideas, and creativity of the people closest to the community.
Anyone can step in to host or support a satellite event.
Third Spaces
Summer After Dark creates “third spaces” - places outside of home and school where young people can gather, connect, and simply be.
These spaces are essential for building relationships, fostering belonging, and creating a sense of safety and community.
Safety + Response Teams
Trained teams and community partners help ensure that every event is safe, supported, and coordinated.
This includes:
-
On-site presence
-
Community-based support
-
Clear response protocols
Safety is a shared responsibility, and we approach it with care and intention.
